Bubble Boy - Chris Lee
On the sixth hand after the break, Chris Lee was all-in and at risk against Jesse Chinni.

Lee held K 7 and needed some help against A♣ Q♣ which never came.

The 18 remaining players have bagged their chips and will return at 2:15 p.m. on Monday for the conclusion of the Main Event.

Chip counts and table draw will be posted once available, but for now here are the 18 players who have guaranteed themselves some money:

Christian Harder
Brian Hastings
Jonathan Ivy
Fred Jafarzadeh
Lawrence Lakatosh (chip leader)

Event 17 (Day 2): Chip Update At Break

Level 18 (Blinds 2,500/5,000/600)
Total Entries: 178
Players Remaining: 19

John Lakatosh's Big Stack
Players are currently on a 15-minute break after everyone survived the first six hands of hand-for-hand play. They will return to Level 18, and will continue hand-for-hand until only 18 players remain.

The average chip stack is 281,053. While a handful of players are hovering in the 420-450 range, one stack clearly stands out among the rest:

John Lakatosh - 900,000
Jacob Bazeley - 450,000
Timothy Bishop - 440,000
Charles Welch - 430,000
Christian Harder - 425,000
Mike Dentale - 420,000

Event 17 (Day 2): Main Event Enters Bubble

Level 17 (Blinds 2,000/4,000/500)
Total Entries: 178
Players Remaining: 19

Kenneth Aldridge pushed all-in with A 2 on a board with 2 diamonds and got a call from Christian Harder. Harder had a pair of Jx's and made a set on the river while no diamonds came out.

With Aldridge heading to the rail in 20th place, players are now entering hand-for-hand action to determine who cashes in the main event, as well as who comes back to play tomorrow.

Event 17 (Day 2): Play Tightening

Level 17 (Blinds 2,000/4,000/500)
Total Entries: 178
Players Remaining: 20

With just two eliminations remaining until the money, players are simultaneously getting more aggressive and more conservative.

There has been a lot of pre-flop raising and even heavy post-flop action, but it has been at least half an hour since the all-in button even made an appearance, let alone led to an elimination.

Players are 15 minutes away from a short break before entering Level 18 (2,500/5,000/500), but the average stack in the room will still have more than 50 big blinds at that time.

Event 17 (Day 2): Hastings Knocks Out Glasgow

Level 17 (Blinds 2,000/4,000/500)
Total Entries: 178
Players Remaining: 21

Brian Hastings
The action picked up in earnest after the turn on Table 29.

Against a board of 6 7 4♣ 8♣, Brian Hastings put out a bet of 18,000. Adam Glasgow snap re-raised all-in and Hastings called, even though neither player was holding a 5x for the straight.

Hastings: A♣ 6♣     Glasgow: 3 3♣

River: Q

Hastings didn't hit his flush on the river, but the middle pair held up over Glasgow low pocket pair, eliminating Glasgow in 22nd place.

Two hands later, Ian Davis was eliminated from the same table in 21st place. Only two eliminations remain until the conclusion of play.

Event 17 (Day 2): Chip Update

Level 17 (Blinds 2,000/4,000/500)
Total Entries: 178
Players Remaining: 22

One hour removed from dinner break, play has now entered into Level 17.

The average stack in the room is just under 250,000, but there are a few stacks in excess of 300,000:

John Lakatosh: 750,000
Charles Welch: 450,000
Christian Harder: 420,000
Ulises Roman: 350,000
Jonathan Ivy: 325,000

Event 17 (Day 2): Last Lady Eliminated

Level 16 (Blinds 1,500/3,000/400)
Total Entries: 178
Players Remaining: 22

Sandra Boyd was the last female left in the field until she had the misfortune of running into the big stack of John Lakatosh.

Boyd's chip count before the hand could not be confirmed, but Lakatosh held a 5-to-1 chip advantage over Boyd when players returned from dinner break, and currently has approximately half a million chips.

Event 17 (Day 2): McLaughlin Chips Up, Ahmadian Ships Out

Level 16 (Blinds 1,500/3,000/400)
Total Entries: 178
Players Remaining: 23

Robert McLaughlin
After having his stack crippled shortly after the dinner break, Elia Ahmadian was in the small blind and down to his final 31,900 chips. He pushed all-in pre-flop after Jacob McLaughlin limped into the hand in hijack position. McLaughlin called and the cards were out.

McLaughlin: 7♣ 7    Ahmadian: A K

Flop: J J 9
Turn: 5♠
River: 4♣

Ahmadian found neither a pair nor a broadway draw for his overcards, and left the room in 24th place.

Only five more eliminations remain until the end of play for the day.

Event 17 (Day 2): The Harder They Come...

Level 16 (Blinds 1,500/3,000/400)
Total Entries: 178
Players Remaining: 24

Christian Harder
Four players saw the flop on Table 29 before Roger Low pushed all-in from the Big Blind.

Low came back from dinner break with just 60,000 chips, so it wasn't a huge push - at least in comparison to Christian Harder's decision to re-raise all-in from under the gun. Harder had Low covered several times over, making the decision a much more difficult one for the other players in the hand. Ian Davis went into the tank before ultimately folding. Davis' cards were barely even in the muck before Lawrence Pileggi's followed, and the two remaining hands were face up.

Harder: A♠ Q     Low: K Q

Flop: Q♠ 10♣ 6♣
Turn: 6♠
River: 3♠

Christian outkicked Roger in a battle of the queens, sending Low to the rail in 25th place while Harder is now all but tied for the chip lead.

Event 17 (Day 2): Quick Restart

Level 16 (Blinds 1,500/3,000/400)
Total Entries: 178
Players Remaining: 25

Jacob Bazeley
On just the second hand after dinner break, two slightly below average stacks at Table 30 were trading haymakers on a flop of Q♠ 10♠ 9♠

Elia Ahmadian bet 12,000 on the flop, getting a call from Jacob Bazeley. After the 10 on the turn, Elia led out for 25,000, once again getting called by Jacob.

The river brought the 9 and Elia went into the tank for a minute. He eventually asked Jacob to move his hands to reveal how many chips he had remaining, before opting to check and allow Bazeley to become the aggressor. He bet 64,000, which Elia called.

Bazeley tabled J 10 for a rivered full house. Ahmadian looked at the board for about 30 seconds before mucking his cards and declaring he flopped a flush.

Jacob chipped up to just over 250,000, and Elia was left with about 20 big blinds.

Moments thereafter, Jane Hitchcock was eliminated in 27th place and Andrew Brokos left the room in 26th place.

Event 17 (Day 2): Back From Dinner

Level 16 (Blinds 1,500/3,000/400)
Total Entries: 178
Players Remaining: 27

As players finish filing back into the poker room, they are sitting down to Level 16 where the big blind will be 3,000 chips. As such, the average stack in the room still has 66 big blinds remaining.

John Lakatosh (550,000; Table 31), Christian Harder (400,000; Table 29) and Ulises Roman (360,000; Table 30) have the biggest stacks in the room, but anything can happen over the course of the next few hours.

Play will conclude tonight when only 18 players remain. Coincidentally enough, 18 is also the number of players who will get paid in this tournament. Thus, the players who survive tonight are the ones guaranteed some cash tomorrow.

Event 17 (Day 2): Dinner Break

Level 16 (Blinds 1,500/3,000/400)
Total Entries: 178
Players Remaining: 27

The remaining players are currently going on a 60-minute dinner break, with play resuming at approximately 7:50 p.m.

Jason Deutsch was eliminated in 28th place just 6 minutes before the break, after Brian Hastings open shoved with Qx Qx. Jason made the call holding Ax Jx, but was unable to improve on the board.

After a re-draw, players are down to the final 3 tables. There will shortly be a list posted with updated seats and chip counts.

Event 17 (Day 2): Wyvill Down

Level 15 (Blinds 1,200/2,400/300)
Total Entries: 178
Players Remaining: 28

The field has just lost Wesley Wyvill, one of the three players to chop Event 1 to kick of the Live! Summer Series Of Poker.  After the next elimination the field will be down to 27 and there will be a full redraw.  Once the redraw is done, and newly updated table layout will be posted.

Event 17 (Day 2): Yaginuma Falls Short/Flurry Of Action

Level 15 (Blinds 1,200/2,400/300)
Total Entries: 178
Players Remaining: 29

The action has just suddenly picked up as four players are lost in a span of (10) minutes.  Matthew Aaron was the first to be eliminated, followed by notable Maryland pro Jesse Yaginuma.  Then just moments ago, there would be a three-way all-in at Table 29 with both Cliff Goldkind and Andrew Franklin at risk, with Elia Ahmadian having them both covered:

Franklin: Kx Kx       Goldkind: Ax Ax         Ahmadian: 9x 9x

Flop: 9x 8x 3x

Turn: 10x

River: Jx

Ahmadian would flop a set of nines, and immediately go from worst to first.  The turn and river would bring no help to either Goldkind or Franklin, and Elia would score the double knockout.

Event 17 (Day 2): Table Layout

Event 17 (Day 2): Losing Two More

Level 15 (Blinds 1,200/2,400/300)
Total Entries: 178
Players Remaining: 34

Just as the table layout was being printed, the remaining field would lose two more players.  John Gorsuch was eliminated by Elia Ahmadian (2x2x <Ax5x), and Philip Rinaldi busted by Kenneth Aldridge when the two players get it on for a 250,000 pot on the flop.  Rinaldi held QxQx against the KxQx of Aldridge on a flop of 10♠ J♠ 4♣, but Aldridge would spike an ace on the river to make broadway and send Philip away from the tournament area.

And with an up to the minute update, Joshua Pollock was just spotted leaving his seat and the tournament area.

Event 17 (Day 2): Level Up/Updated Chip Counts

Level 15 (Blinds 1,200/2,400/300)
Total Entries: 178
Players Remaining: 37

Players are posting new blinds with Level 15 starting just seconds ago (1,200/2,400/300), with the chip average sitting at 145,000.  The dinner break will commence at the conclusion of this level, last for (60) minutes before returning to play down to 18 players.  Here are some updated chip counts taken at the end of Level 14:

Christian Harder - 300,000
Fred Jafarzadeh - 260,000
Chris Lee - 200,000
Jesse Chinni - 195,000
Robert McLaughlin - 190,000
Mike Dentale - 185,000
Kenneth Aldridge - 185,000
Jason Deutsch - 185,000
Jake Bazeley - 180,000
Lawrence Pileggi - 175,000
Andrew Brokos - 160,000
Charles Welch - 145,000
Jesse Yaginuma - 130,000

The field just lost Gang Tao, which means that Table 33 just broke and those players are headed to their new homes.  A revamped layout of the field will be posted, as Christian Harder ends up at Table 30, which can officially be named the "Table Of Doom."

Event 17 (Day 2): One Lady Down

Level 14 (Blinds 1,000/2,000/300)
Total Entries: 178
Players Remaining: 37

Lara Eisenberg (McLean, VA) has just been eliminated, leaving only two ladies active in the field.  Jane Hitchcock (Washington D.C.) is sitting with a stack of 79,000 (34 big blinds), while Sandy Boyd  (Williamsburg, VA) continues her up and down day, as her stack was just counted at 130,000 (65 big blinds).

The field also lost Joe Wagner (Zebulon, NC) during the early stages of Level 14, falling to one of the tougher tables remaining in the field.  The lineup at that table consists of all notables, with all of the players sitting with average to above average stacks: Andrew Brokos, Mike Dentale, Christopher McCoy, John Lakatosh, Kenneth Aldridge, Chris Lee, and Jesse Chinni.

Event 17 (Day 2): Dinio's Done

Level 14 (Blinds 1,000/2,000/300)
Total Entries: 178
Players Remaining: 39

John Lakatosh
Local player Arnold Dinio has just been eliminated in one of the larger pots of the day.  After the action folded to Arnold on the button, he would open the pot for a raise to 6,000.  John Lakatosh would three-bet to 16,000 from the small blind (Dinio called) and the players would see a flop of 9 J 2.  Lakatosh would lead for 17,000 and immediately get raised to 50,000 by Arnold.  Lakatosh would call after a few moments and the two would see the dealer place the A on the turn.  John would check, and Arnold would put out 45,000.  Before Arnold could get his hand off the chips, John put enough chips across for a raise to put Arnold all-in.  Dinio would make the call and the hands would be tabled:

Dinio: K K(nut diamond draw)
Lakatosh: Q 6(turned flush)

River: Q

Arnold would start the hand with close to 140,000, but he'd end up out of the tournament after the river didn't bring another diamond.

Arnold was only the first of a flurry of bust outs to start the level as Matthew Su was eliminated by John O'Brien (AJ < A♠Q all-in pre), and Matteo Menna busted by Jacob Bazeley (KxKx < AxQx all-in pre).

Event 17 (Day 2): Updated Chip Counts

Players are about to take their seats once again, and the cards are going to be back in the air.  Players will play the next two levels before heading on a (60) minute dinner break.  Here are some updated counts from the field taken during break:

Total Entries: 178

The action has slowed down, with the chip average going into Level 14 sitting at (60) big blinds.  The blinds in Level 14 are moving up to 1,000/2,000/300, with the only other player eliminated in the level being Clarence Senter.  Players are going on a (15) minute break at the moment and will be returning to play at 4:48pm.

Event 17 (Day 2): Some New Names To Report

Level 13 (Blinds 800/1,600/200)
Total Entries: 178
Players Remaining: 44

A lot of the same names have been reported throughout the day, so it is now time to look at the new ones that are still active and doing well.  Fred Jafarzadeh has continued to trend upwards, and has assumed the chip lead with just over 320,000:

Fred Jafarzadeh - 320,000
Lawrence Pileggi - 165,000
Matthew Su - 140,000
Robert McLaighlin - 135,000
Wesley Wyvill - 132,000
Jane Hitchcock - 120,000
Lara Eisenberg - 115,000
Kenneth Aldridge - 85,000

Event 17 (Day 2): Rothbard's Run Good Runs Out

Level 13 (Blinds 800/1,600/200)
Total Entries: 178
Players Remaining: 44

Fred Jafarzadeh (Woodbridge, VA)
Michael Rothbard's roller coaster day has just ended in dramatic fashion as he was all-in and at risk pre:

Rothbard: K Q
Jafarzadeh: A K

Flop: 8♠ Q 5
Turn: 2♣
River: A

It looked as if Michael was about to recoup the chips he lost moments ago to Jason Deutsch, as he flops a queen and has Fred Jafarzadeh in bad shape.  The turn would stay clean for Rothbard, but he'd be left with just a wry smile after the ace spiked the river, sending Michael away from the tournament area.

Event 17 (Day 2): Don't Look Now

Level 13 (Blinds 700/1,400/200)
Total Entries: 178
Players Remaining: 45

Jake Bazeley (Cincinnati, OH)
There was a point late in Level 9 last night (Blinds 400/800/100) that Jake Bazeley had less than ten bigs sitting in front of him.  He was able to build that up to 42,000 before the night ended, and over the course of the first three levels of the day has amassed an average stack of 115,000.

Bazeley is currently seated at Table 32, and although the table lost Christian Harder when he was moved to balance tables, it's still one of the tougher in the room.

Event 17 (Day 2): Blinds Are Climbing

Level 13 (Blinds 800/1,600/200)
Total Entries: 178
Players Remaining: 45

The field is now down to (5) active tables after the elimination of Awaise Dar, with players now entering Level 13.  The blinds in Level 13 are going up to 800/1,600/200, with a chip average amongst the field of 118,000.  The history grows between Jason Deutsch and Michael Rothbard, as Deutsch doubles through him once again, this time turning a straight against Rothbard's overpair to the board.  Deutsch chips up to 155,000 with that pot, while Rothbard drops down once again, this time to 80,000.

Event 17 (Day 2): Field Continues To Shrink

Level 12 (Blinds 700/1,400/200)
Total Entries: 178
Players Remaining: 46

The field continues to get smaller as the eliminations are happening at a pretty quick pace.  The most recent players to leave the tournament area are Mark Taranto and Matthew Shafman.  A handful of the more accomplished players in the field are beginning to chip up, including Chris Lee, Christian Harder, Jesse Yaginuma, and Brian Hastings.

As this post was being published, Awaise Dar was eliminated by Jonathan Ivy, as Dar's Qx Jx fell to the 10x 7x on a board of 10x 7x Jx 9x 10x.  All of the eliminations for the day have been updated, so if you are following at home and haven't the name of those you're sweating, they are still active in the field.

Event 17 (Day 2): Two More Sent Away

Level 12 (Blinds 700/1,400/200)
Total Entries: 178
Players Remaining: 48

The field has lost two more notable players, as both John Moore and Eric Rivkin were eliminated just moments ago.  Moore's critical hand came just moments ago when he lost 10x 10x < Qx Qx against Faramarz Firoozabadi, ending up with just 10,000 after the hand.  John would bust a few hands later, with Eric Rivkin following suit.  Eric would four-bet shove Qx Qx and get called by Fred Jafarzadeh and his AxKx.  Fred would hit a king on the runout and Eric would be eliminated for the second time this week (Event 15) short of the money.

Event 17 (Day 2): Hastings Getting Healthy

Total Entries: 178
Players Remaining: 50

Brian Hastings (Ithaca, NY)
Walking up to Table 33, Brian Hastings and Sandy Boyd would be heads up and on the flop of 10♠ 5♣ 9.  The pre-flop action wasn't verified, but there was close to 20,000 in the pot already.  Hastings would put out a bet of 7,500 on the flop, and after giving a long look over at Brian, Boyd would make the call.

The board would pair on the turn with the 10♣, and Hastings would check.  Sandy would check back very quickly, and the dealer would place the 4 on the river.  Brian would look down at his chips, pick up a stack of grey chips, and place down a 40,000 bet. Sandy would make the call and Brian would turn over 10 8.  Boyd's hand would go into the muck and Hastings would chip up to 150,000 with that pot.  Sandy would be left with 110,000 after absorbing the loss.

In elimination updates, one time Day 1B chip leader Tremayne Jernigan was erased from the field during the first few hands of Level 12.

Michael Rothbard
There have been a handful eliminations in the first (15) minutes of play, including James St. Hilaire, Scott Blumenfeld, David Tran, David Greene, and Sang Kim.

We had a chance to talk to Day 1A chip leader Michael Rothbard prior to play today, who informed us of his new charitable endeavor.  Rothbard has started a foundation in memory of his parents, the Harry And Belle Memorial Foundation.  This foundations mission is to help underprivileged local athletes (Maryland) and offer them the opportunity to reach their full potential both athletically and academically.

Michael may be in a joking mood today, wearing his fake mustache at the table, but he is truly serious about giving back to the community in honor of his family.  Rothbard and Chinni will both be donating their $5,000 bonus to the foundation, with Michael going even further and donating any of his winnings from this tournament.  These are the great stories in poker, and this is what needs to be publicized throughout our community.

Event 17 (Day 2): Players Unpacking

Level 10 (Blinds 500/1,000/100)
Total Entries: 178
Players Remaining: 71

The Day 2 field is currently taking their chips out of the bag and getting them stacked and ready for today's action.  Tournament supervisor Jason Jeidenthal (@NittyJayTD) will be making the rules announcement shortly, and the cards will then be in the air.  One point that will be made during the announcement is that today's play will play down to (18), so once the money bubble is burst, players will bag for the night and return tomorrow for Day 3.

Event 17 (Day 2): Day 2 Cards In The Air Shortly

Level 9 (Blinds 500/1,000/100)
Total Entries: 178
Players Remaining: 71

The (71) players who successfully bagged chips during one of the two starting flights will be returning in just over an hour.  Play is scheduled to conclude today once the field is down to 36 players, but there is a chance that the number can change.  If there is any change in the scheduling for today, you can be sure to find out about it the moment it happens.  The coach and student are coming back with the chip lead, with Mark Rothbard bagging 174,200 on Day 1A and Jesse Chinni 193,500 last night when Day 1B ended.  Just as in a PGA event, today can be considered more of a "moving day."  The tournament can not be won today by any single player, but it can be lost, with the ideal goal to put yourself in a solid position for tomorrow's final day.

Cards will be in the air at 12:15pm, with live coverage of Day 2 picking up the minute play starts for the day.
