Event 14 (Day 1A): Final Hands Of Night

Level 12 (Blinds 600/1,200/200)
Total Day 1A Players: 35
Day 1A Players Remaining: 10

Before the post updating chip counts could even get some views, the field loses two players and are now playing (4) more hands before bagging chips.  Once the chips are bagged and verified, a full and final chip count will be posted for those moving on to Day 2 (Sunday 12:15pm).

Event 14 (Day 1A): Could Be Ending Early

Level 12 (Blinds 600/1,200/200)
Total Day 1A Players: 35
Day 1A Players Remaining: 12

It would be a real surprise if the field doesn't get down to (10) players, as the level has just transitioned once again.  Here are the updated chip counts for the remaining twelve players:

Table 29:

  1. Robert Marquette - 20,500
  2. Mark Castaldo - 32,000

Event 14 (Day 1A): Drake Busts Bowker

Level 11 (Blinds 500/1,000/100)
Total Day 1A Entries: 35
Day 1A Players Remaining: 13

Drake Bronk
The action at Table 29 began with Kyle Bowker open shoving for his remaining 11,000.  Todd Jacobsen would be next to act, and he would pause momentarily and also announce himself all-in for just over 60,000.  Action would fold around to Drake Bronk in the big blind, and he would shove his chips in as well (46,000):

Kyle: 9 9♠
Todd: A♠ Q
Drake: Q Q♣

Runout: Q♠ 4♠ 6 10♠ 4♣

Drake's lead would become even stronger on the flop, and although Jacobsen turned the nut flush draw, the river would brick out.  Bowker would be eliminated, while Drake would chip up to 105,000.

Event 14 (Day 1A): Taylor's Tens No Good

Level 10 (Blinds 400/800/100)

Level 9 (Blinds 300/600/75)
Total Day 1A Entries: 35
Day 1A Players Remaining: 20

Since posting the seating layout earlier, the field has lost five players:

Jane Hitchcock
Daniel Sussman
Jeremy Stein
Jonathan Faltz
John Kostelac

At the conclusion of this level, the remaining players will be going on a (45) minute dinner break.  After returning from said break, the structure calls for Day 1A to play through the conclusion of Level 15.  If this starting flight gets down to (10) players or less, there is a chance that play will cease right there, and those remaining will bag chips for Day 2.

Event 14 (Day 1A): Bowker Back From Vegas

Level 7 (Blinds 200/400/50)
Total Entries: 35
Day 1A Players Remaining: 25

Kyle Bowker (Walton, NY)
Kyle Bowker (Walton, NY) returned from Las Vegas only days ago, but has just taken his seat for his second event of the Live! Summer Series Of Poker.  Although he didn't see much success in Event 10 (Pot Limit Omaha), he was coming off another sizable score out west.

Bowker initial breakout score came in the 2006 WSOP Main Event, where he finished 37th for $247,399.  Kyle has since amassed over $2,300,000 in tournament earnings, including another deep run in this year's WSOP Main Event.  Bowker finished 71st this time around, for a return of $103,025.

Kyle has some history at Table 29, as he is seated directly across from Justin Liberto, who he beat heads up in the WSOPC $1,675 Main Event at Harrah's Chester.

Event 14 (Day 1A): Break Time

Players are heading on their second (15) minute break of the day, and when they return to Level 7 the blinds will have increased to 200/400/50.  The field has seen the first couple eliminations of the day as Alex Rumbaugh and Tony Hulbert were both seen leaving the tournament area.  Neither player has re-entered, and it's yet to be determined whether or not they will be returning tomorrow for Day 1B play.

Once the break concludes, registration will be closed for this first starting flight of Event 14, and all of the pertinent numbers related to the day will be posted.

Event 14 (Day 1A): Updated Chip Counts

Brendon Sadowski - 56,000
Rafael Menkes - 43,000
James Bucci - 36,000

Event 14 (Day 1A): Registration Window Closing

Players interested in entering the Day 1A field have just over an hour remaining to get it, as posted on Twitter:

Event 14 (Day 1A): Legend

Level 4 (Blinds 100/200)
Total Entries: 33

James Bucci (Hollywood, MD)
Live! Poker tournament regular Tim Little called over the media to ask if the name James Bucci sounded familiar.  Although James wasn't recognized immediately, it took only a few clicks on the computer to find out that Bucci was cashing in tournaments while many of the players in the field were on the bus to school.

Bucci (Hollywood, MD) has over $632,000 in career tournament earnings, with his first cash coming during the 1990 WSOP.  Over his career, James has amassed 67 recorded cashes, with his largest coming just this summer at the 2014 WSOP.  Bucci finished third in the $1,500 Limit Omaha Hi/Lo, taking home $109,000.

Bucci is off to a solid start today, sitting with 32,000 in front of him.

Event 14 (Day 1A): Representing For The Ladies

Level 4 (Blinds 100/200)
Total Entries: 32

Jane Hitchcock (Washington D.C.) was the only woman in the field to start the day, and that hasn't changed with just under two hours remaining in registration.  Jane has been a tournament fixture in the room during the series, but is still looking for her first cash here at the Live! Poker Room.  Her day did not get off to a good start, as she busted from Table 29 and has now found herself at Table 30 with the likes of Alex Rumbaugh, Duane Mitchell, James Bucci, and Daniel Sussman.

Jane has six career cashes to her name (all from 2013), with her largest score coming at the Aria in a $340 NLH Deep Stack (4th Place - $4,108).  This series has been her first since returning from Las Vegas and the WSOP, where she saw great success in cash games over the trip.

Event 14 (Day 1A): Early Counts/First Break

Level 3 (Blinds 75/150)

At the end of this level (7 minutes), players will be going on their first break of the day.  When they return to Level 4, the blinds will have increased to 100/200.  Here are some of the early chip counts from the field as players head to break:

Brendon Sadowski - 53,000
Jeremy Stein - 36,000
Tim Little - 22,000
Taylor Honkofsky - 21,000
Justin Liberto - 18,000
Tony Hulbert - 17,000
Jane Hitchcock - 8,500
Alex Rumbaugh - 6,300

Event 14 (Day 1A): A Quick Turnaround

Level 3 (Blinds 75/150)
Total Entries: 31

Tony Hulbert (Sterling, VA)
It was less than twelve hours ago that Tony Hulbert (Sterling, VA) was discussing numbers for a chop of Event 13 ($250 NLH).  When everything was said and done, Hulbert would walk away with $4,309 for his fourth place finish, his second cash of this series.

Tony was one of the first players seated in the field today, meaning he feels comfortable playing on a light night of sleep.  He is currently just under the starting stack, sitting with 18,000 in front of him.

Level 2 (Blinds 50/100)
Total Entries: 28

Justin Liberto (Baltimore, MD)
The newest player in the field is coming off a great last year, and when it comes to all-time career tournament earnings for residents of Maryland, he is top fifteen.  Justin Liberto (Baltimore, MD) finished 4th in the inaugural WSOP $1,500 Millionaire Maker (2013) for over $400,000...and that was only the beginning.  Over the next twelve months, Liberto would add another $250,000 to his career earnings, finish runner up at the WSOPC Main Event at Harrah's Chester and the Big Stax VI $1,500 Main Event at Parx.

Justin just took his seat at Table 29, and is hoping to continue the Liberto good run, as his father John just chopped Event 12 yesterday afternoon.

Level 1 (Blinds 25/50)

Jonathan Robinson
Tony Hulbert
Taylor Honkofsky
Tim Little

Event 14 (Day 1A): Shuffle Up And Deal

Level 1 (Blinds 25/50)

The rules announcement has been made by tournament supervisor Jason Heidenthal, and the cards are now in the air.  Players have sat down to a starting stack of 20,000, with (40) minute levels throughout both of the Day 1's.  Day 2 (on Sunday) will see the length of the levels transition, as players finish off the tournament with (60) minute levels.  Late entries and re-entries are allowed for the first (6) levels, with all players sitting down to a full starting stack.

As the field grows in these early stages, an update of the notables in the field will be posted shortly.

Event 14 (Day 1A): Live Coverage Returns

In just over (30) minutes, Event 14 of the Live! Summer Series Of Poker will begin ($1,100 No Limit Hold'em - $75,000 Guarantee).  The live coverage that many of the players have been asking about picks back up for this event, and continues for the rest of the series.  What feels like the "co-main event," Event 14 boasts the second largest buy-in of the series at $1,100.  Just as in Event 1, the winner of this tournament will not only take home the top prize money and trophy, but they will also earn themselves a seat into next week's $2,200 LSSOP Main Event.  Cards will be in the air at 12:15pm this afternoon, and live updates will kick off at that moment.
