Event 15 (Day 1D): Final Break Of The Day

Players are about to head on their second (and final) break of the day (15 minutes).  When they return to play, they will be posting blinds of 300/600/75.  The chip average is currently 24,000 (40 big blinds), as the field continues to shrink.  Here is a look at the top five stacks from this afternoon's Day 1C flight:

Joshua Mischel - 192,900 ($1,000 Chip Lead Bonus)
Aaron Wright - 151,700
Sean Byars - 133,500
Dean Mikulla - 80,900
Corey Kennel - 70,600

Event 15 (Day 1D): Updated Chip Counts

Level 8 (Blinds 250/500/50)
Total Day 1D Entries: 105
Day 1D Players Remaining: 67

With registration having been closed for almost two levels now, some larger stacks are beginning to emerge across the tournament area.  Here are some updated chip counts midway through Level 8:

Tim Bryan - 75,000
Scott Calcagno - 65,000
Jeromy Bittan - 65,000
Steven Sindler - 64,000
Theodore Hickman - 47,000
Dawn Saddler - 31,000
Daniel Chan - 28,000
Eric Rivkin - 24,000
Tony Hulbert - 23,000
Christian Harder - 9,000

Event 15 (Day 1D): Making Quads Work

Level 7 (Blinds 200/400/50)
Total Day 1D Entries: 101
Day 1D Players Remaining: 76

Tim Bryan (Centreville, VA)
There would be a collectively reaction at Table 31 as the action concluded in a hand between Jeremy Stein and Tim Bryan.  The board would read A 2 7 7 4, and Stein had just called Bryan's all-in of 22,450.  Tim would table 7♠ 7♣ (turned quads), while Stein would show 2♠ 2♣ (full house) and toss the hand towards the muck.

With that pot Bryan is up to 50,000, well above the 19,000 chip average at the moment.

Event 15 (Day 1D): Proctor's Set Good

Level 6 (Blinds 150/300/50)
Total Day 1D Entries: 101

The action continues at Table 40, as Donald Proctor and Sheng Lo get it in for a pot worth over 38,000.  The two hands were tabled after a flop of Kx 5x Jx, with Proctor holding 5x 5x (bottom set) against Lo's Kx Jx (top two).  Proctor's hand would hold the lead through the turn and river, and he is now over 40,000.

Proctor has over $14,000 in career tournament earnings, including back to back wins in January of 2013.  Donald first won a $200 NLH event during Delaware Park's Winter Poker Classic for $5,000, and followed that up two weeks later with a win in a $150 NLH event during the WPT Lucky Hearts Open in Hollywood, FL ($4,788).

Event 15 (Day 1D): Last Level For Registration

Level 6 (Blinds 150/300/25)
Total Day 1D Entries: 89

Players now have less than (30) minutes to register for this flight of Event 15.  Once registration is closed it will leave only tomorrow afternoon's Day 1E flight remaining for the tournament.  That will be the only flight of the day, and all players who bagged chips will return Thursday for Day 2 (12:15pm).

Christian Harder gets an early double towards the end of Level 5 as he three-bets a 550 open to 1,700 from the small blind.  The original raiser the shoves for 15,000 and Christian makes the call:

Harder: A K      Player X: Kx Kx

Flop: Qx Jx 7x

Turn: Jx

River: 10x

Harder would grab the hand on the river and doubles to 37,000.

Event 15 (Day 1D): Siprajim Chipping Up

Level 5 (Blinds 100/200/25)
Total Day 1D Entries: 89

One of the players in the fuel currently trending up is Vichien Siprajim, who currently sits with just under 50,000.  Siprajim has a solid tournament resume, with over $92,000 in career tournament earnings.  His best live cash came in 2010 when he finished 12th in the $3,300 Borgata Poker Open WPT Championship Event ($40,025).  Vichien's only cash at Maryland came earlier in this series when he min-cashed Event 1 for $282 (split spot on the bubble).

Event 15 (Day 1D): First Break

Players are heading out on their first (15) minute break of the night, and they will be posting blinds of 100/200/25 when they return.  This flight now has 89 total entries, which is already the more popular of the two night flights.  Event 1 winner Joshua Gordon (Silver Spring, MD) took his seat about half the way through Level 4, and currently rounds up the notables in action.

Event 15 (Day 1D): Updated Chip Counts

Level 4 (Blinds 100/200)
Total Day 1D Entries: 80

Players will finish Level 4 before going on their first (15) minute break of the day, with eight more levels to follow.  Along with Terry Saad, Christian Harder (Annapolis, MD) is another newcomer to this flight.  Here are some updated chip counts from the beginning of Level 4:

Samuel Moore - 55,000
Jeromy Bittan - 50,000
Jeffrey Fink - 32,000
Daniel Chan - 28,000
Christian Harder - 15,000
Terry Saad - 13,000

Event 15 (Day 1D): Saad Back In Action

Level 3 (Blinds 75/150)
Total Day 1D Entries: 80

Terry Saad (Fairfax, VA)
The last time Terry Saad (Fairfax, VA) was pictured on the live updates page, it was for chopping the Live! Poker Classic $3,500 Main Event.  For his share of the chop Terry would receive $44,090, and finished runner up to Kevin Elia in the $1,000 sit and go played after the chop for the trophy and $10,000.

That was Terry's first recorded cash, and he was ready to take a piece of the winnings and go to Las Vegas for the 2014 WSOP.  Unfortunately Saad's plan did unfold how he would of liked it, as scheduling conflicts kept him from going.  He is in action for the first time this series, and has already committed to playing the $2,200 Main Event as well.

Event 15 (Day 1D): Cards In The Air For Flight 1D

Level 1 (Blinds 25/50)
Total Day 1D Entries: 37

Tournament supervisor Brent Philbin has just made the rules announcement for players currently seated at their tables, and the cards for this flight are in the air.  As the field continues to grow and players settle in, a post with the notables active will be published.

Event 15 (Day 1C): Mischel Bags The Bonus

Level 12 (Blinds 600/1,200/200)
Total Day 1C Entries: 124
Day 1C Players Remaining: 33

Mischel's Bag Slip
Joshua Mischel (Baltimore, MD) held off a few players that were making a good run at him, but nobody could beat his end of day stack of 207,900.  The tournament supervisors are now taking care of the bagging process, and will set the tournament area up anew for the 7:15pm Day 1D flight.

Coverage of the next flight will resume when cards are in the air, and the whole thing will be done over again.  The end of Day 1C final counts will be posted here on the live updates page within the first few levels of Day 1D play.

Event 15 (Day 1C): Mischel's Chip Lead Pot

Level 12 (Blinds 600/1,200/200)
Total Day 1C Entries: 124
Day 1C Players Remaining: 34

Joshua Mischel (Baltimore, MD)
Joshua Mischel (Baltimore, MD) may have just won the pot to give him the Day 1C $1,500 chip lead bonus.  Doug Marinovich was all-in for 12,400 and called by Joe Cashen.  The action would fold around to Joshua and he would re-shove, getting a less than warm reaction from Cashen.

After talking it out for a few moments, Cashen decided to go with his hand, and he made the call:

Mischel: A A       Marinovich: 8♣ 8♠     Cashen: 7♠ 7♣

Runout: Q 4 9 9♠ K♠

Mischel would eliminate both players from Day 1C play and chip up to 192,000 in the process.  Only five minutes remain before the clock is paused, with Joshua holding a commanding lead.

Event 15 (Day 1C): Final Level Of The Flight

Level 12 (Blinds 600/1,200/200)
Total Day 1C Entries: 124
Day 1C Players Remaining: 38

The race is now on for the chip lead bonus, as less than (30) minutes remain in the Day 1C flight.  There are currently three players above 100,000, and other than that it would be anyone's opportunity to grab.  The tournament supervisor will pause the clock with 10:00 showing, announce how many remain in the night, and the bagging process will then start afterwards.  The end of Day 1C chip counts will be posted shortly thereafter.  Here are the three largest stacks heading into the final level:

Sean Byars - 148,000
Aaron Wright - 125,000
Joshua Mischel - 116,000

Event 15 (Day 1C): Two Levels Left (Table Layout)

Event 15 (Day 1C): Byars Currently Boss

Level 10 (Blinds 400/800/100)
Total Day 1C Entries: 124
Day 1C Players Remaining: 43

Sean Byars
Sean Byars only has one recorded result to his name, but he's looking to change that as he continues to trend upwards.  Approaching Table 31, Byars would be tangled in a hand with James Bushmire.  The players would be on the turn of a board reading 9 A♠ 6♣ K♠, with Byars turn bet of 6,500 being raised to 14,000 by Bushmire.

Sean would continue his pressure filled play and three-bet to 30,000.  James would think momentarily, but would eventually push his hand towards the muck, giving Byars the pot.  Sean is now up to 145,000, almost 50,000 clear of his closest competitor.

Event 15 (Day 1C): Bigger Stacks Emerging

Level 10 (Blinds 400/800/100)
Total Day 1C Entries: 124
Day 1C Players Remaining: 46

As the levels climb and the blinds begin to increase, a handful of larger stacks are beginning to pop up across the room, with the first player to eclipse 100,000 just moments ago:

Sean Byars - 115,000
Eric Doerr - 84,000
Arnold Dinio - 80,000
Aaron Wright - 70,000
Eric Laliberte - 70,000
Joshua Mischel - 67,000
Cory Kennel - 58,000
Jane Hitchcock - 55,000
Philip Rinaldi - 52,000

Event 15 (Day 1C): Short Stacks Doublin'

Level 9 (Blinds 300/600/75)
Total Day 1C Entries: 124
Day 1C Players Remaining: 49

Two of the shorter stacks notables just got doubles as the last minutes of Level 9 tick away.  Jim Bucci Jr. got his remaining chips in pre-flop with Kx Kx against 8x 8x, doubling to 28,000 after his hand held.  Only one hand later at Table 29, Tim Little would be all-in and at risk with A 5♠ against the 10♣ 10 of Joe Cashen.  The runout would be kind to Little as the board came A♠ 2♠ 4♠ K♠ J♠, doubling Little up to 20,000.

Event 15 (Day 1C): No Longer Around

Level 9 (Blinds 300/600/75)
Total Day 1C Entries: 124
Day 1C Players Remaining: 57

As players return to play once again, it's a good time to point out the players who are no longer in the field:

Christopher Walker
Eric Rivkin
Kevin Lutz
Behrooz Shahrzad
Brendon Sadowski
Cameron Tahmasebi
James Sloat

Event 15 (Day 1C): Final Break/Updated Chip Counts

Level 8 (Blinds 250/500/50)
Total Day 1C Entries: 124
Day 1C Players Remaining: 63

Players are about to head on their second (and final) fifteen minute break of the day.  They will return to play the final four levels of the night, and will return to Level 9 and blinds of 300/600/75.  Here are some updated chip counts as players head to break:

Aaron Wright - 90,000
Arnold Dinio - 76,000
Philip Rinaldi - 60,000
Joe Cashen - 55,000
Sean Byars - 54,000
James Bushmire - 50,000
Eric Doerr - 48,000
Jane Hitchcock - 47,000
Robert McLaughlin - 37,000
Jim Bucci - 35,000

Event 15 (Day 1C): Bushmire Sends Home Two

Level 8 (Blinds 250/500/50)
Total Day 1C Entries: 124
Day 1C Players Remaining: 66

James Bushmire (Greer, SC)
Gary Schoengold would be standing at Table 31 and collecting his belongings.  Approaching the table his hand would be tabled, as well as two others in a three-way all-in pre:

Schoengold: J♠ J      Hulbert: 9♠ 9♣       Bushmire: A♠ A

Runout: 4 5♣ 5 8 3♣

James Bushmire (Greer, SC) would have his hand hold against the two shorter stacks, with Anthony Hulpert and Gary Schoengold eliminated from Day 1C play.  Bushmire would chip up to 55,000, which is almost double the chip average of 29,000 at the moment.

Event 15 (Day 1C): Dinio Doing It Again?

Level 7 (Blinds 200/400/50)
Total Day 1C Entries: 124
Day 1C Players Remaining: 77

Arnold Dinio (Bowie, MD) has alread collected a chip lead bonus this series, earning $1,000 during one of the starting flights of Event 1.  He is currently top five in the room, sitting behind only one other player.  There haven't been many players separating themselves from the rest of the field, and nobody has yet to have been spotted with over 100,000.

Aaron Wright - 88,000
Arnold Diio - 70,000
Faisal Qayumi - 62,000
Philip Rinaldi - 60,000
Joseph Cashen - 40,000

Another notable of note to enter the flight at the last possible second was Kyle Bowker (Walton, NY), looking to bag chips after unsuccessfully doing last night.

Event 15 (Day 1C): The Wright Way

Level 7 (Blinds 200/400/50)
Total Day 1C Entries: 124

Aaron Wright (Baltimore, MD)
Registration is now closed for this flight of Event 15, and the total number stands at 124 (largest flight yet).  The chip leader is currently Aaron Wright (Baltimore, MD) with 86,000.  Wright is a fairly unknown tournament player, with five lifetime cashes worth just under $4,000.

All of Aaron's results have come from Atlantic City properties, his largest being a 15th place finish at the Borgata during the $230 NLH Bounty Event (2011 Borgata Summer Poker Open) for $838.  Wright is currently seated at Table 40 with the likes of Justin Liberto and Jim Bucci Jr.

Event 15 (Day 1C): Rinaldi Rising

Level 6 (Blinds 150/300/25)
Total Day 1C Entries: 120

Philip Rinaldi (Silver Spring, MD)
Approaching Table 33, Brendon Sadowski would be all-in pre for 2,650 with Philip Rinaldi and Joshua Mischel coming along.  The dealer would fan out a flop of 5 10 K♠, and both players would check the street.  After the K♣ paired the turn, Rinaldi jumped into action with a 10,000 bet.  Joshua would think for a few moments before making the call, and the two players would see the A on the river.  Rinaldi would once again put some chips together, this time throwing out 15,000.  Mischel quickly mucked his hand, and Rinaldi turned over 10 10♠ (turned full house).

Sadowski would turn over his Ax 2x, but the pot would go to Rinaldi and he would assume the chip lead in the field with over 75,000.

Event 15 (Day 1C): One Level Left Of Registration

Level 6 (Blinds 150/300/25)
Total Day 1C Entries: 115

Only (30) minutes now remain for players interested in entering, or those looking to re-enter this flight of Event 15.  This flight currently boasts the largest field of the three so far, with one more flight this evening at 7:15pm, and tomorrow afternoon at 12:15pm.  Once registration is closed today, the numbers pertinent to Day 1C will be posted.

Event 15 (Day 1C): Needing All Of The Turn

Level 5 (Blinds 100/200/25)
Total Day 1C Entries: 113

The action at Table 33 would be picked up on the turn of a board reading 9 3 10 9, with Joshua Mischel betting 3,500.  The action would be on Brendon Sadowski, who would throw out a min-raise to 7,000.  It didn't take long for Joshua to collect the rest of his chips and push them across his cards.  Brendon would quickly make the call and wouldn't be too happy to see that his Q 8 only had one out to win against the 10♠ 9♣ of Mischel.  The river would bring the 7 and Sadowski would send over a double Mischel's way.

Joshua is now over 30,000 and is looking for his second cash of the series.  Mischel finished runner-up to Cameron Tahmasebi in the $350 PLO Bounty event last week, good for $4,900.

Event 15 (Day 1C): First Break/Chip Counts

Level 4 (Blinds 100/200)
Total Day 1C Entries: 106

The total number of entries for the day has already eclipsed either of the numbers from yesterday, with over an hour remaining in registration.  Players are about to go on their first (15) minute break of the day, and they will return to Level 5 and blinds of 100/200/25.  Here are some updated counts from the field:

Aaron Wright - 63,000
Arnold Dinio - 50,000
James Clark - 45,000
Philip Rinaldi - 30,000
Eric Doerr - 28,000
Jane Hitchcock - 27,000
Jim Bucci - 26,000
Joseph Cashen - 25,000
Daniel Chan - 21,000
Joseph Stiers - 19,000

Event 15 (Day 1C): Word Is Spreading

Level 4 (Blinds 100/200)
Total Day 1C Entries: 99

Daniel Chan (New York, NY)
When tournament professionals begin adding new spots to their calendar, it makes it clear that the word is spreading about the tournaments here at the Live! Poker Room.  Daniel Chan (New York, NY) has travelled around the world playing poker, and can now add Maryland as one of his destinations.

Chan has just under $500,000 in career tournament earnings, with his largest score coming in May of 2012, when he won a $1,090 No Limit Hold'em event at Foxwoods.  This is the first time that Daniel has been spotted during the Live! Summer Series Of Poker, and his welcome gift just happens to be sitting next to the runner-up of Event 1.

Corey Kennel (Springfield, VA) is also back for the first time since chopping up Event 1, earning just over $20,500 for his efforts.

Event 15 (Day 1C): Like Father Like Son

Level 3 (Blinds 75/150)
Total Day 1C Entries: 90

Justin Liberto (Baltimore, MD) & John Liberto (Fallston, MD)
The Ripkens, Griffeys, Andersons...just some of the most well known and successful father/son combos in sports.  There are actually two father/son combos in the Day 1C field, which is definitely something to note.  Justin and John Liberto (pictured) are both active in the field at the moment, but this is a scenario where (in terms of poker) the father is looking up to his son.  Justin has over $500,000 in career earnings, propelled by a year of poker in 2013 that many people would wish for.  John may have been playing this game much longer than his son, but he has some work to do if he would like to catch up to his son (John has $10,000 in career earnings).

On the other side of the spectrum, there is also the combination of Jim Bucci and Jim Bucci Jr. currently in the tournament area.  This is a case where the senior Bucci holds all of the earnings for the family in tournament poker, with over $600,000 in recorded cashes.  Bucci Jr. does not have resume just yet, but is looking to make a deep run in this event and do his best to catch Dad.

Event 15 (Day 1C): Those Familiar Faces (Part 2)

Level 2 (Blinds 50/100)
Total Day 1C Entries: 84

The list of notables in the field was so long that it had to be separated into two posts for reading purposes.  With the $2,200 Live! Summer Series Of Poker $2,200 Main Event coming up quickly, many tournament professionals are traveling early to take advantage of the value that comes with this tournament:

Brendon Sadowski
Justin Liberto
James Sloat
Walter English
Philip Rinaldi
Joshua Mischel
Behrooz Shahrzad
James Bucci Jr.
Joseph Stiers
Joseph Cutler
Arnold Dinio

Event 15 (Day 1C): Those Familiar Faces (Part 1)

Level 2 (Blinds 50/100)
Total Day 1V Entries: 80

The flow of players entering the tournament continues to be steady, and at this pace Day 1C will have the largest field to date (for Event 15).  It seems as if this afternoon has brought out a large number of notables, many looking for an early start to the day:

Jane Hitchcock
Christopher Walker
John Liberto
Eric Rivkin
Brian Reeve
Tim Little
Oleksand Onufriychuk
Christopher Grove
Cameron Tahmasebi
Gary Schoengold
Eric Doerr
James Bucci
Robert McLaughlin

Event 15 (Day 1C): Let's Get Going

Level 1 (Blinds 25/50)
Total Day 1C Entries: 71

The rules announcement has been made by the tournament supervisor and the cards are now in the air.  As the options of different flights to enter pass, the trend the field size should see is one of extreme growth.  There are already eight active tables in the tournament area, with many notables spotted for the first time during Event 15.  Those familiar faces will be posted once the registration line has disappeared.

Event 15 (Day 1C): The Flights Continue At 12:15pm
