Event 1 (Day 1C): Welch Bags The Bonus

Level 16 (Blinds 1,500/3,000/500)
Total Day 1C Entries: 252
Day 1C Players Remaining: 39

Charles Welch (Baltimore, MD)
Charles Welch mentioned wearing his "patient shoes" earlier in the day, and the patience surely paid off.  After a rocky start to the day, where he would dip below starting stack on more than one occasion, Welch bags the chip lead with 266,500.

This is the second time Welch has bagged a bonus during a Live! Poker Room series, for a grand total of $11,000.  The chip counts for all of the players to bag this flight will be posted shortly, with the Day 2 seating assignments to follow.

Event 1 (Day 1C): Final Hands Of The Night

Level 16 (Blinds 1,500/3,000/500)
Total Day 1C Entries: 252
Day 1C Players Remaining: 39

The tournament supervisor has just announced that there will be three more hands left in the night, and players will then bag for the night.  Once the counts are official, the player who won the chip lead bonus will be pictured and posted.  The end of day chip will be posted on the live updates page before midnight, with the Day 2 table draw to follow.

Event 1 (Day 1C): Morcos Eliminated

Level 16 (Blinds 1,500/3,000/500)
Total Day 1C Entries: 252
Day 1C Players Remaining: 41

With the elimination of Jennifer Morcos at the hands of Matthew Buchman, there are no longer and women remaining in the field.  That means that the only ladies to advance to Day 2 of this event are those who bagged on Day 1A:

Cynthia Albert
Sophia Pappas
Lisa Hong
Linh Huang

Event 1 (Day 1C): Who Else But Welch?

Level 16 (Blinds 1,500/3,000/500)
Total Day 1C Entries: 252
Day 1C Players Remaining: 44

The final level has just started, and tournament supervisor Brent has just explained how the rest of the night will work.  The clock will be paused with (10) minutes remaining, and a random draw will be made for the amount of hands left in the night.

Charles Welch has continued his steady trend upwards, and is going into Level 16 with 225,000.  Charles was able to bag the chip lead during the first starting day of the Live! Poker Classic $3,500 Main Event, which earned him $10,000.  He has already made it clear that he is shooting for this bonus tonight, so a lot of action is expected at Table 29.

Event 1 (Day 1C): Min Assumes Chip Lead

Level 15 (Blinds 1,200/2,400/300)
Total Day 1C Entries: 252
Day 1C Players Remaining: 53

In Min
On a board of A Q 10, In Min would be facing a pretty sizable all-in bet from Felix Arbitman (~50,000).  Min would take his time in making his decision, and eventually verbally make the call.  Felix would turn over Q♣ 7, way behind the A Q♠ of Min.  Although the turn would bring another heart, the river would brick Felix and he'd be eliminated.

Min would chip up over 200,000 with that pot, and with only a level remaining in the night is the player to beat.

Event 1 (Day 1C): New Names Emerging

Level 15 (Blinds 1,200/2,400/300)
Total Day 1C Entries: 252
Day 1C Players Remaining: 55

There is less than an hour remaining of play for the day, and some new names are beginning to put themselves in contention for the $1,000 chip lead bonus.  It still looks at the moment that the number to bag the lead is going to have to be north of 250,000, but anything can change over the final levels of the night:

John Fricchione - 192,000
August Smrek - 152,000
Steven Kang - 150,000
Venkata Emani - 138,000
Charles Welch - 130,000
In Min - 125,000
Adam Hanes - 120,000
Eric Davis - 105,000
Jay Neptune - 95,000

Event 1 (Day 1C): Welch Continues

Level 14 (Blinds 1,000/2,000/300)
Total Day 1C Entries: 252
Day 1C Players Remaining: 60

It looks as if Table 29 has been the source for a lot of action since dinner, and Charles Welch has been involved more often that not.  Welch opened the pot for a 4,000 raise and got called by Gregory Paryani and August Smrek (from the big blind).  The dealer would fan a flop of 5♣ 2♣ 4, with both Smrek and Welch checking to Paryani.  Gregory would put out a bet of 9,000 and both players would make the call.  The action would be checked again to Paryani after the 9 on the turn, and this time he would bet 17,000.  Smrek would fold after little thought, and Welch would collect the chips and throw in a call.  The 3♣ would be tabled on the river, and the action would go check-check, with Welch quickly tabling 3♠ 3 (flopped open-end, rivered straight).  The hand would be good enough for the win as Paryani mucked his hand, and Welch would chip up to 130,000.

Charles Welch - 130,000
Gregory Paryani - 80,000

Event 1 (Day 1C): Hard Luck Winner?

Level 14 (Blinds 1,000/2,000/300)
Total Day 1C Entries: 252
Day 1C Players Remaining: 64

Venkata Emani (Hanover, MD)
Continuing the trend of players from the Live! Poker Classic $3,500 Main Event, Venkata Emani (Hanover, MD) just eliminated John Robinson to chip up to 80,000.  Emani could be considered the hard luck "winner," if there is such thing.  Although Emani reached the final table, he would eventually end up being eliminated in 9th place ($7,987).

After Venkata was eliminated, the remaining players began discussing numbers and eventually came up with a chop.  The player who walked away with the least amount in the chop still took home over $30,000.

Event 1 (Day 1C): Welch Chipping Up

Level 13 (Blinds 800/1,600/200)
Total Day 1C Entries: 252
Day 1C Players Remaining: 65

Charles Welch (Baltimore, MD) was one of the co-winner of the Live! Poker Classic $3,500 Main Event, and after unsuccessfully bagging chip yesterday, he's back at it and chipping up.  Here is a Twitter snapshot of he day leading up to dinner:

Since returning from dinner, Welch has picked up a few more pots and is now close to 90,000.

Event 1 (Day 1C): Cards Back In The Air

Level 13 (Blinds 800/1,600/200)
Total Day 1C Entries: 252
Day 1C Players Remaining: 69

The cards are back in the air and players are ready to finish the final four levels of the night.  It didn't take long before one of the players to return from dinner update on his departure:

Event 1 (Day 1C): Not Going To Dinner

Level 12 (Blinds 600/1,200/200)
Total Day 1C Entries: 252
Day 1C Players Remaining: 81

With only (10) minutes until players head to dinner, here is an updated list of notables unable to reach this point:

Philip Rinaldi
Joe Simmons
Cullen Hofmann
Olasupo Dosunmu
John Robinson
Jorge Alvarado

The Day 1C action and live coverage of the remainder of the day will continue at 7:30pm.

Event 1 (Day 1C): Last Level Before Dinner

Level 12 (Blinds 600/1,200/200)
Total Day 1C Entries: 252
Day 1C Players Remaining: 83

Players have this level (30 minutes) before heading on dinner break, and then returning to finish out the night.  Here are some updated chip counts heading into Level 12:

Eric Davis - 130,000
David Roinell - 110,000
Steven Kang - 95,000
Boris Braun - 94,000
Jeffrey Puchalski - 93,000
Adam White - 90,000
Coury Mascagni - 86,000
Michael Snyder - 85,000
George Carter - 80,000

Event 1 (Day 1C): Adams Will Never Know

Level 11 (Blinds 500/1,000/100)
Total Day 1C Entries: 252
Day 1C Players Remaining: 89

Adam White
The Day 1C field continues to shrink, as now 89 players remain on nine active tables.  A hand between Adam White and Donovan Adams was caught on Table 28.  The players were on the turn of a board reading 8 6 7 K, with a pot well over 30,000.  White had the red all-in button in front of him (31,125 to call), and the action was on Donovan.  Donovan would go deep into the tank, eventually calling the floor on himself.  The supervisor would walk over and explain that after (60) seconds with no decision, his hand would be declared dead.  Adams waiting until the time had almost elapsed before pushing his hand towards the muck.

White would chip up to over 75,000 with no showdown, while Donovan dropped down to 60,000.  Only a few hands after that confrontation, James Sloat was eliminated from play.

Event 1 (Day 1C): Updated Chip Counts

Level 10 (Blinds 400/800/100)
Total Day 1C Entries: 252
Day 1C Players Remaining: 112

The Day 1C action so far has been similar to the FIFA World Cup semifinal...which is currently 0-0.  The furious bustouts and huge pots have not been nearly as frequent, which could be a product of the "last chance" element of this flight.  Here are some updated chip counts from the active field:

David Roinell - 100,000
Steven Kang - 92,000
Lalit Behera - 83,000
Christopher Kochensparger - 80,000
Jay Neptune - 77,000
Timothy Weslow - 76,000
Donovan Adams - 63,000

Two of the ladies that were mentioned earlier have since been knocked out, as both Elaine Ng and Tiffany Williamson were seen leaving the tournament area.

Event 1 (Day 1C): Checking Up On The Ladies

Level 9 (Blinds 300/600/75)
Total Day 1C Entries: 252
Day 1C Players Remaining: 125

One trend that has been steady throughout the live updates is keep up on the ladies in the field.  Of the 125 active players currently in the field, there are only five remaining:

Jennifer Morcos - 45,000
Sudha Baxter - 33,000
Tiffany Williamson - 19,000
Elaine Ng - 18,000
Alesha Hunt - 12,000

Event 1 (Day 1C): Break Time

Players are heading on a (15) minute break, with the blinds in Level 9 going up to 300/600/75 (29,000 chip average).  The schedule of play for the rest of the day is as such: play will continue through Level 12, when those remaining will have a (45) dinner break.  With 10:00 remaining in Level 16 the tournament clock will be paused, and those still in will find out how many hands are left in the night.  Those players will then bag and tag their chips for Day 2, and the combined Day 2 field will return tomorrow afternoon at 12:15pm (to play the tournament out to conclusion).

Event 1 (Day 1C): Earlier Departures Than Wanted

Level 8 (Blinds 250/500/50)
Total Day 1C Entries: 252
Day 1C Players Remaining: 138

At the conclusion of this level (15 minutes), players will be going on their second break of the day.  When they return to play the blinds will be going up to 300/600/75, with a chip average for those active of 27,600.  The field lost close to 25 players since registration closed, including notables Kevin Lutz and Taylor Honkofsky:

Event 1 (Day 1C): The Century Club

Level 8 (Blinds 250/500/50)
Total Day 1C Entries: 252
Day 1C Players Remaining: 159

Steven Kang
If things hold true to form, the chip leader from this flight should be bagging more than the two prior (largest is 248,500).  At the current moment, with 159 active players in the tournament field, only two players are above the 100,000 mark.

David Roinell has continued trending upward since being mentioned earlier in the afternoon, and he now has 110,000.  the newest name to the century club is Steven Kang.  Kang has just over 100,000, and is looking to put himself in solid position to add to his $10,666 career tournament earnings.

Event 1 (Day 1C): The Numbers Are In

Event 1 (Day 1C): Building Up And Buying In

Level 6 (Blinds 150/300/25)
Total Day 1C Entries: 228

Alexander Rumbaugh
Level 6 has just started, meaning there are only (30) minutes remaining in registration.  The shorter stacks are picking spots to try and chip up, or get back in...while the big stacks try to exploit those moves.

Approaching Table 32, there would be a hand on the flop between Alexander Rumbaugh and Cameron Shahab.  The dealer already had fanned out a flop of 8 J♠ 7♠, and Shahab had gone all-in for 16,000 after Alex checked.  Rumbaugh asked for a count, and seemed really torn with his decision.  He would eventually announce a call, and the hands would be tabled:

Rumbaugh: 10♠ 8♠         Shahab: J 7

Turn: 7♠

River: 4

Although Rumbaugh was behind when the chips got in, things would change quickly as he spiked a flush on the turn.  Alex would still need to hold, as Cameron made two pair on the turn, but couldn't fill up on the river.   Rumbaugh would chip up to 40,000 with the pot, while Cameron waited for a re-entry ticket before leaving the table.

Event 1 (Day 1C): Recognizing Williamson

Level 5 (Blinds 100/200/25)
Total Day 1C Entries: 218

Tiffany Williamson
With the 2014 WSOP Main Event currently in full swing, we would be remiss not mention Tiffany Williamson in the field today.  In 2005, Tiffany made a historic run during the WSOP Main, finishing in 15th for $400,000.  Williamson was looking to become only the second female player to ever make the Main Event final table, but her efforts fell just short.

Williamson is currently sitting with the starting stack, and along with a handful of other female players in the field, is looking to build towards bagging at the end of the night.  After four female players bagged chips on Day 1A, there were none that were able to accomplish the feat last night.

Event 1 (Day 1C): Break Time Twitter Updates

Players are midway through their (15) minute break, and the Twitter-verse is still showing some signs of live:
