Event 1 (Day 1B): Dinio Bags The Lead

Level 16 (Blinds 1,500/3,000/500)
Total Day 1B Entries: 150
Day 1B Players Remaining: 24

Dinio Getting Count Verified
The night is now over and the last of the remaining players are exiting the tournament area.  When the smoke cleared and dust settled, it was Arnold Dinio (Bowie, MD) taking home the $1,000 chip lead bonus.  Dinio would bag 224,400 to end the night, almost 20,000 short of last night's number.

Arnold is a Live! Poker Room tournament regular, with four of his last five cashes coming at this room.  Once all of the numbers are official, an end of day chip count will be posted on both the live updates page and Twitter.

Tomorrow is the last chance for any players interesting in trying to bag chips for Day 2.  Action kicks off at 12:15pm, with the same structure as the past two days.

Event 1 (Day 1B): Final Hands

Level 16 (Blinds 1,500/3,000/500)
Total Day 1B Entries: 150
Day 1B Players Remaining: 26

The tournament supervisor has just jumped on the microphone to announce to the remaining players that there are five more hands in the night.  Right now it really is too close to tell who has the chip lead, as Dinio and "Ono" are neck and neck.  One the chips are counted and verified by the floor, the player who bagged the lead will be announced.

Event 1 (Day 1B): "Ono" Running Well

Level 16 (Blinds 1,500/3,000/500)
Total Day 1B Entries: 150
Day 1B Players Remaining: 30

Players have entered the last level of the night, with play paused at the 10:00 minute mark so the final amount of hands can be announced.  Things are very close in terms of chip leader, as Oleksand "Ono" Onufriychuk just sent former chip leader Benjamin Andersen to the rail.  The two players were all in pre:

Ono: 10 10♠        Andersen: A 4

Flop: 4♣ 4♠ Q♠

Turn: J♣

River: 10

Things are clearly going Ono's way at the moment, as he hits what was a one-outer (another player claimed to be holding the case ten) on the river.  Ono is over 205,000 and is chasing both Arnold Dinio (220,000) and Jeremiah Leblanc (215,000).

Event 1 (Day 1B): Losing Lutz...Ng Remains

Level 15 (Blinds 1,200/2,400/300)
Total Day 1B Entries: 150
Day 1B Players Remaining: 32

Kevin Lutz (Bellmawr, NJ) was one of the shorter stacks remaining, and when he got his final chips in pre, he wasn't in the best of shape.  He held K♠ 8♠ up against K♣ Q♠, but the flop would change things dramatically (3 8♣ 10).  Lutz grabbed a pretty strong hold on the hand, but the drama would rise when the J♠ hit the turn (giving his opponent more outs to a straight).  Lutz's night would be over when the A hit the river, and he would be left to tell the story to friend Eric Rivkin seated in tonight's satellite.

With the loss of Lia Lyongs, Elaine Ng remains the only female player in the field.  She currently has a stack less than 20 bigs, leaving her some work to do during the final (45) minutes.

Event 1 (Day 1B): Bonus Contenders

Level 15 (Blinds 1,200/2,400/300)
Total Day 1B Entries: 150
Day 1B Players Remaining: 34

With three minutes already off the clock in Level 15, less than an hour now remains in the night.  The mighty from earlier have fallen, while new names rose to the top of the leaderboard.  Things are much closer than last night (even though it ended up a 5,000 difference between leader and second), with almost half the field in contention for the $1,000 bonus:

Jeremiah Leblanc - 225,000
Arnold Dinio - 195,000
Oleksand Onufriychuk - 140,000
Juan Karras - 135,000
Vichien Siprajim - 105,000
Brian Woods - 100,000
Lalit Behera - 100,000

Event 1 (Day 1B): A Big Call

Level 14 (Blinds 1,000/2,000/300)
Total Day 1B Entries: 150
Day 1B Players Remaining: 39

Jeremiah Leblanc
Approaching Table 29 there would be a hand (at the river) going on between Aaron Mendelsohn and Jeremiah Leblanc.  The board would read 5♣ 2♣ 2 9♠ 5♠, with a pot well over 75,000.  Leblanc had checked to Aaron on the river, and Mendelsohn responded by going all-in for 65,000.  Leblanc would be in the tank for a few minutes before he decided to make the call and place a stack of chips across his cards.  Mendelsohn would tap the table and say to Jeremiah, "You got it."

Leblanc would table 8 8♣ for the win, drawing a wide-eyed reaction from a number of his table mates.  The big river call would vault him to the chip lead, stacking up a mountain worth over 230,000.

Event 1 (Day 1B): It's A Lightning Round

Level 13 (Blinds 800/1,600/200)
Total Day 1B Entries: 150
Day 1B Players Remaining: 44

The eliminations have been happening by the minute it seems, as four more players are eliminated in the (20) minutes since returning from dinner:

- Charles Balint is eliminated by Walter English as his A 8 < A♣ J.

- Mark Gordon is eliminated by Rudy Tjin as his A♣ Q♣ < 9♠ 9♣.

- Wayne Griffin is eliminated by Juan Kassar in a blind v. blind situation, as Griffin runs A Q < A♠ A♣ of Kasser.

- Victor Ngyuen is eliminated by Arnold Dinio, as Dinio makes broadway on the turn with K J against Victor's Q 9.

Event 1 (Day 1B): Matteo Meets "Ono"

Level 13 (Blinds 800/1,600/200)
Total Day 1B Entries: 150
Day 1B Players Remaining: 46

The field lost three players in a matter of five minutes back from dinner, with Matteo Menna eliminated most recently.  Menna got his fifteen big blind stack in with J♣ J against the Q♣ 9♣ of Oleksand Onufriychuk on a board of 4♣ 4 8♣.  "Ono" had one over with the club draw, and although he bricked the turn, the Q on the river drew a loud clap and fist pump.  "Ono" is now one of the leaders in the field with 130,000.

Event 1 (Day 1B): Back From Dinner

Level 13 (Blinds 800/1,600/200)
Total Day 1B Entries: 150
Day 1B Players Remaining: 49

Players are once again seated and the cards are in the air.  The tournament supervisor has just reminded players that the day will end at the conclusion of Level 16 (or) if the field reaches 12% (of the day's total number).  As the day enters Level 15 a closer look at those in contention for the end of day chip lead bonus will be posted.

Event 1 (Day 1B): Things Are Changing

Level 12 (Blinds 600/1,200/200)
Total Day 1B Entries: 150
Day 1B Players Remaining: 52

Those who were once on top are beginning to slip, as the discrepancy between the big stacks and those chasing has become much smaller.  There is not a player in the field over 100,000 at the moment, and it doesn't look like that is going to change before dinner.  Here are some counts as players finish up the level:

Daniel Yoon - 90,000
Brian Woods - 83,000
Benjamin Andersen - 80,000
Juan Kassar - 75,000
Charles Balint - 44,000
Kevin Lutz - 35,000
Lia Lyons - 29,000
Elaine Ng - 21,000
Matteo Menna - 19,000

Day 1B play will resume (along with live coverage) at 7:30pm.

Event 1 (Day 1B): Level 12...Then Dinner

Level 12 (Blinds 600/1,200/200)
Total Day 1B Entries: 150
Day 1B Players Remaining: 54

Level 12 has just been announced, with the blinds going up to 600/1,200/200.  The players that remain after the next (30) minutes will then go on a (45) minute dinner break.  Today's place is just a tad bit slower than yesterday, as 41 players went to dinner during Day 1A play.  With less chips in play for today's field, the chip lead at the end of night is likely to be significantly lower than the 248,500 bagged by David Vu.

Event 1 (Day 1B): Sending Two Home

Level 11 (Blinds 500/1,000/100)
Total Day 1B Entries: 150
Day 1B Players Remaining: 58

Oleksand Onufriychuk
With six of the nine players standing at Table 33, there was sure to be something going on.  Approaching the table, three players would be all-in, with Oleksand Onufriychuk covering the two others.  Oleksand's K Q would actually be ahead pre against his opponents Q J and K J, and his hand would never lose the lead.  Onufriychuk would eliminate both short stacked players and chip up to 70,000 with the win.

There have been a few more notables lost as the field diminishes:

Damien Parks
Jose De La Rosa
Giuseppe Serio

Event 1 (Day 1B): Updated Chip Counts/Level Up

Level 11 (Blinds 500/1,000/100)
Total Day 1B Entries: 150
Day 1B Players Remaining: 60

Level 11 started just moments ago, with the blinds going up to 500/1,000/100.  The current chip average amongst the 60 active players in the field sits at 37,500.  Here are some updated chip counts of those still sitting:

Brian Woods - 115,000
Benjamin Andersen - 95,000
Daniel Yoon - 63,000
Charles Balint - 55,000
Walter English - 50,000
Joe Simmons - 50,000
Matteo Menna - 39,000
Samuel Davis - 28,000
"Soup" Dosunmu - 22,000

Event 1 (Day 1B): Ladies Sticking Around

Level 10 (Blinds 400/800/100)
Total Day 1B Entries: 150
Day 1B Players Remaining: 72

Elaine Ng (Oakton, VA)
At this point yesterday there were still a handful of ladies remaining in the field, with Cynthia Albert (243,800), Sophia Pappas (135,300), Lisa Hong (79,700) and Linh Huang (59,800) all bagging chips for Day 2.  Today's story has been a different one, as only a pair of women currently remain active.

Elaine Ng is on her second bullet, but has built her starting stack up to 27,000 (33 big blinds).  Lia Lyons is sitting at the table next to Ng, but is not fairing as well, sitting with 13,000 (16 big blinds).

Event 1 (Day 1B): Andersen Jumps To The Top

Level 9 (Blinds 300/600/75)
Total Day 1B Entries: 150
Day 1B Players Remaining: 75

Benjamin Andersen
The was a sizable pot brewing at Table 32 as Joseph Domyslawski and Benjamin Andersen were locked up in a hand.  The action was caught on the river, as the board read A♠ 8 2 J♠ K♣.  The pot was already over 35,000, and Andersen had announced all-in after a check from Joseph.  The count for to call Domyslawski was 25,925, and he was clearly thinking about it.  He could be heard saying, "It's a crazy call if I'm right about this."  Joseph would stack the exact chips for a call and push it towards the middle.  Benjamin would turn over A J and Joseph would push his cards towards the muck.

With that pot Benjamin is now the chip leader in the field, up to 90,000 with his new found chips.

Event 1 (Day 1B): No Longer Around

Level 9 (Blinds 300/600/75)
Total Day 1B Entries: 150
Day 1B Players Remaining: 76

The following players have been eliminated since the close of registration:

John Robinson
Dawn Saddler
Eric Doerr
Sean Perry
James Sloat
Joseph Cashen

Event 1 (Day 1B): Back To Business

Level 9 (Blinds 300/600/75)
Total Day 1B Entries: 150
Day 1B Players Remaining: 77

Players are once again taking their seats, with all of the talk during break surrounding the 5-0 bludgeoning happening in the Brazil v. Germany game.  The next break will be after Level 12, with players taking (45) minutes for dinner.

Event 1 (Day 1B): The World Is Watching

Level 8 (Blinds 250/500/50)
Total Day 1B Entries: 150
Day 1B Players Remaining: 84

Ali Navid (Centreville, VA)
There is no shortage of televisions for players to watch while in the tournament, with all but one tuned into the 2014 FIFA World Cup Semifinal (Brazil v. Germany).  It's pretty clear who Ali Navid is rooting for this afternoon, although it may be effecting his concentration at the table.  Navid's eyes are fixated on the match until the action is on him, but history shows he knows what he is doing.

Navid has a WSOPC ring to his name, winning a $345 No Limit Hold'em Event at Harrah's Atlantic City in 2012.  Players will be going on their second (15) minute break of the day at the end of this level, and will return to Level 9.  The blinds when they come back will have increased to 300/600/75, with a current chip average of 27,000.

Event 1 (Day 1B): Updated Chip Counts

Level 7 (Blinds 200/400/50)
Total Day 1B Entries: 150
Day 1B Players Remaining: 92

Olasupo "Soup" Dosunmu
After a flurry of bustouts as registration was about to end, action has slowed down substantially.  Some new names are beginning to creep up the leaderboard, including Olasupo "Soup" Dosunmu.  "Soup" has two career cashes to his name, both coming during the Live! Poker Classic in March.  Dosunmu finished in 4th during the $150 NLH Double Green Chip bounty ($1,992), and 13th in the $550 NLH Freezeout ($1,050).

Here are some others building stacks as the day reaches it's halfway point:

Brian Woods - 80,000
"Soup" Dosunmu - 60,000
Chris Mattocks - 58,000
Charles Baltin - 57,000
Daniel Yoon - 54,000

Event 1 (Day 1B): Potential For Fireworks

Level 7 (Blinds 200/400/50)
Total Day 1B Entries: 150

Registration is now closed for the day, with the official number for the field of 150.  That would bring the two day total to 308, with one more starting flight tomorrow.  The number of players in order to reach the guarantee is 455, so those players thinking overlay can search elsewhere.

As the outer tournament tables break, some new lineups form across the room.  Those players at Table 29 can begin to settle in, because unless someone busts from the table (or gets moved to even out other tables), it's a table that will not break at any point today.  A keen eye will be kept in that direction as two of the biggest stacks in the field are housed there.  Charles Balint has just joined the action with his 60,000 stack, and Brian Woods (Lutherville, MD) has been there all day (sitting with 75,000).  Woods is not tournament rookie, with over $172,000 in career tournament earnings.  Brian already has a win under his best this summer, taking down a $500 NLH event during Venetian's DeepStack Extravaganza in May.  Brian would collect over $24,000 for the win, which likely came in handy as the WSOP started only days later.

Event 1 (Day 1B): Satellites Continue Tonight

Level 6 (Blinds 150/300/25)
Total Day 1B Entries: 146

Just a reminder for players who bust after registration closes (or) weren't able to make it in time today, the is a satellite this evening at 7:00pm.  The $70 satellite will reward one seat for every $500 in the prize pool, for players to use towards Event 5 or 15 of the Live! Summer Series Of Poker.  Players begin with 8,000 in chips, with (20) minute levels throughout the night:

Event 1 (Day 1B): Emerging From The Crowd

Level 6 (Blinds 150/300/25)
Total Day 1B Entries: 142

Charles Balint (Reistertown, MD)
With the start of Level 6 just moments ago, players now have until the end of this level to register for Day 1B.  Once registration closes it will leave only tomorrow afternoon's Day 1C flight for players to try and bag chips for Day 2 (Thursday).

There is a new chip leader in the field and his name is Charles Balint (Reistertown, MD).  Balint knocked out Sean Perry as the level was transitioning, and even after chipping up to 60,000 that pot, he continued to apply pressure to the table the next few hands.  Balint is just under 70,000 at the moment, and although his line may change form hand to hand, one thing will always stay the same...his Maryland Terrapins visor.

Event 1 (Day 1B): A Little History

Level 5 (Blinds 100/200/25)
Total Day 1B Entries: 135

Rashad Maysaud
Walking over to Table 33, Kunal Shah would have his remaining 4,300 in front of him as he waited for the action behind.  Vince Maillard would make the call from the button, and after the small blind folded, Rashad Maysaud would re-shove for just under 14,000.  Maillard and Maysaud were involved in a sizable pot during the last level, and this time Vince decided to look him up:

Maillard: A 10      Maysaud: A♣ A♠       Shah: 7♣ 7

Runout: Q♠ 10 5 2♠ 3

Maysaud's aces would hold, and he would chip up to 40,000 with that pot.  Maillard had a pretty healthy stack going into the hand, and he would be left with 30,000 after absorbing the loss.

Event 1 (Day 1B): Break Time

Players are on their first (15) minute break of the day, and they will return to Level 5 and blinds of 100/200/25.  The tournament clock shows 130 total entries for the day so far, with just over (75) minutes left for players to register.  It would be fair to assume that today's number will land very close to the 158 of yesterday, with those busting in the next few levels jumping right back in.

Event 1 (Day 1B): Updated Chip Counts

Level 4 (Blinds 100/200)
Total Day 1B Entries: 125

Players will finish up this level before going on their first (15) minute break of the night.  Once players return from said break, there will be one hour left in registration for the day.  Here are some updated chip counts half the way through Level 4:

Jose De La Rosa - 35,000
Joe Simmons - 29,000
Samuel Davis - 28,000
Sean Perry - 27,000
Behrooz Shahrzad - 26,000
Matteo Menna - 20,000
Dawn Saddler - 12,000
John Robinson - 10,000

Event 1 (Day 1B): Late Arrivals

Level 3 (Blinds 75/150)
Total Day 1B Entries: 120

It's clear that word is spreading quickly about the great tournaments here at Live!, as an influx of players from the Philadelphia/New York area have made their way down to the room.  Kevin Lutz (Bellmawr, NJ) is a tournament regular from New Jersey who just drove down this afternoon to make it for today's starting flight.  Kevin has over $63,000 in career tournament earnings, which includes his first WSOPC win earlier this year at West Palm Beach ($365 NLH - $16,950).  Other players to show up late today include:

Joe Simmons
Eric Doerr
Elaine Ng
Kimberly Sachse

Event 1 (Day 1B): Off A Trophy Win

Level 3 (Blinds 75/150)
Total Day 1B Entries: 115

John Robinson (Philadelphia, PA)
John Robinson (Philadelphia, PA) originally had a schedule conflict that he thought would keep him from playing Event 1...not so much anymore.  Robinson took his seat moments ago at Table 34, coming off the largest tournament score of his career.  John won the $500 No Limit Hold'em Deep Stack event during the most recent Borgata Summer Poker Open, taking home $17,606 for the finish.

John is still very young, so his tournament resume isn't as established as others, but what he does have it pretty solid.  Robinson has five career cashes: three first place finishes, a second place, and a fifth.  The recent trophy win has only boosted his confidence, so it will be interesting to note how he fairs during this series.

Event 1 (Day 1B): Sometimes It's Not Enough

Level 2 (Blinds 50/100)
Total Day 1B Entries: 108

Taking a look at the list of players who bagged chips from yesterday's field, you will find the name Giuseppe Serio.  Serio actually ended up with the seventh largest stack of the (25) that ended the night, but it looks as if he wasn't content with that effort.  Giuseppe just sat down at Table 28, and has already been noticed by one of his table mates that was unable to complete the day.

As the field eclipses the 100 player mark, more familiar faces have taken their seats in the tournament area:

Dawn Saddler
Kyung Yoon
Brandon Basiolio
Mark Taranto
John Robinson
Jose De La Rosa
Behrooz Shahrzad

Event 1 (Day 1B): Cashen Back In Field

Level 2 (Blinds 50/100)
Total Day 1B Entries: 101

Cashen During "Poker Night"
The last time Joseph Cashen was on the Live! Updates Page, it was during the Live! Poker Classic $3,500 Main Event.  Although Cashen didn't find success in that event, he did have an opportunity of a lifetime afterwards, as he was part of Poker Night In America.

This live cash game was filmed during the tail end of the series in April (at Rams Head CS), and included the likes of Christian Harder, David "ODB" Baker, Chad Power, Greg Merson, and Gavin Smith.  Cashen was able to sit down with some of the best players in the community and test his skills.

Poker Night In America was so well received that the crew will be back for filming once more at the end of this series (July 29-30).  If you've never seen the show or would like to be in the audience, Rams Head Center Stage is open to the public during the filming.

Event 1 (Day 1B): Field Growing Quickly

Level 1 (Blinds 25/50)
Total Day 1B Entries: 89

James Sloat (Fort Meade, MD)
The field is already at 89 total entries, well ahead of the pace from yesterday.  There is a equal mix of notables from yesterday, and others that are being spotted for the first time this series.  James Sloat (Fort Meade, MD) is back after running kings into aces deep into Day 1A play, but has quickly put that behind him.  Other recognizable players to sit down include:

Matteo Menna
Aaron Pinson
Damien Parks
John Tsai
Arnold Dinio
Jonathan Robinson
John Liberto

Event 1 (Day 1B): Shuffle Up And Deal

Level 1 (Blinds 25/50)
Total Day 1B Entries: 63

The rules announcement has just been made the tournament supervisor, and the cards are in the air for Day 1B.  The pattern of tournaments with multi-starting days is usually similar everywhere you go, with the middle day attracted the most "intimate" field.  The numbers started off a little higher today, so that will be something to keep an eye on.  As players take their seats, all of the notables (old and new) will be posted to the blog.

Event 1 (Day 1B): Second Flight At 12:15pm

The Live! Summer Series Of Poker attracted a total of 158 entries for Day 1A of it's opening event.  While many familiar faces made their way into the tournament area, only 25 players were still around when it was time to bag for the night.  The $1,000 bonus for the chip leader at the end of the night seemed all but locked up with two levels to go, but nobody knew how close things actually were.  David Vu (Wake Forest, NC) would seal a total of 248,500 for the bonus, with Cynthia Albert (Germantown, MD) only a few thousand short of besting that number (243,800).

Day 1B offers another opportunity for players to set themselves up for a deep run, with the $1,000 bonus up for grabs for the end of day chip leader.  The action will be the same as yesterday, with players sitting down to 15,000 starting stacks, (30) minute levels, and play halting at the conclusion of Level 16.  Live coverage of this second starting flight will commence the moment cards are in the air (12:15pm), and will give an in depth look throughout the day until the final bag is sealed.
