At Table 31, Scott Blumenfeld would open the action from the cutoff with a raise to 2,500.  The play would fold to Jesse Chinni in the big blind, who would make the call as the two players went to the flop.  The dealer would fan out a flop of J♥ K♠ Q♦, and Chinni would check to Blumenfeld, who bet out 2,600.  Jesse would make the call and the two would see the 9♥ on the turn.  Action would go check-check, and Chinni would fire out a bet of 5,000 after the 10♥ came out on the river.

Blumenfeld would take a neatly stacked tower of chips and push it across his cards.  Jesse did not ask for a count, but thought for a few moments before dropping some 5k chips in for a call.  Scott would turn over K♥ Q♥ for a rivered straight flush, and Jesse would toss his hand towards the middle.

It was mentioned in an earlier post how James Sloat (Fort Meade, MD) had been running (and playing) very well during this series, and he is picking up right where he left off.  Although the action from the hand was not seen, James just busted Cliff Goldkind, chipping up to 78,000 and putting himself towards the top of the leaderboard.  This is no surprise to Sloat, as he called his shot on Twitter yesterday evening, but has since deleted the Tweet.

The list of notables continues to grow as Cullen Hoffman (Forest Hill, MD) was spotted for the first time since playing in Event 1 earlier in the series.

New faces continue to join the field, including Wesley Wyvill (Alexandria, VA), who was one of the three players to chop Event 1 of this series.  The $300 No Limit Hold'em (Re-Entry) event drew 560 total entries and a prize fund of $146,328.  Wyvill took third place money in the chop, which earned him $19,942 and a seat into the Live! Summer Series Of Poker $2,200 Main Event.  Joshua Gordon was the player who took home the trophy and first place money, and although he was seen earlier in the tournament area, it's has not been verified whether he will be playing in today's field.

Another late arrival was Phong "VIP" Nguyen (Bristow, VA), who took his seat at Table 30 just minutes after players returned from break.

The action was picked up at Table 40 on the flop in a hand between Rafael Saadah and Ian Davis.  Approaching the table Saadah would have a bet in front of him enough to put Davis all-in on a flop of 3♣ 4♥ 6♥, and Davis would make the call.  Rafael would table his 5♥ 7♥ (flopped straight with straight flush redraw), and Ian would need help with his 4♦ 4♠.  The turn and river would not pair the board for Davis and he would bust, while Saadah would scoop up the 40,000 pot and chip up to 77,000.  Ian would immediately go to the tournament podium and is not back in the field at a new table.

The action at Table 40 was picked up pre-flop when a supervisor was called to the table.  Vineet Bhargava opened the pot to 300, and was called by Venkata Emani in middle position.  John Creed would three-bet to 1,100 with the action on him, and Bhargava called behind.  Emani would then throw out two 1,000 chips, which was construed as a raise by Creed.  Although Venkata's intention was to make the call, the tournament floor determined that to be a min-raise, and Creed would five-bet shove in turn.  Vineet would fold and Venkata (who had 2,100 behind) would make the call:

Christian Harder (Annapolis, MD)

The newest arrival to the field is likely no stranger to anyone in the poker room, as Christian Harder (Annapolis, MD) took his seat at Table 28 just moments ago.  Harder is one of a group of big named poker pros to call Maryland home.  Christian has over $2,900,000 in career tournament earnings, including his most recent score during the Aria/Party Poker WPT500 ($565 No Limit Hold'em).  Harder bested a field of 3,599 players to finish in fourth place for $90,000.  He also added five more WSOP cashes during this years series, all in no limit hold'em events.

It didn't take long for Harder to get involved at his table, as he got it all-in on a flop of 10♠ 9♥ 4♣ against Karen Wagner (who had him covered).  It would be a quick trip back to the registration podium, as Christian's 10♦ 9♣ < 10♣ 10♥ of Wagner.

Poker Night In America will be making its return to Maryland Live! Casino on July 29th, the day after the Live! Goldkind won Event 19 during the 2012 WSOP ($1,500 No Limit Hold'em) for $559,514, and has since seen some nice success here at Maryland Live!.  Cliff was one of eight players to chop the Live! The rules announcement has been made for players already seated, and the cards are now in the air for Day 1B of Event 14.  The field has already surpassed that of yesterday, and with the trend of later arrivals always present, the number should continue to grow.  A lot of players have asked about yesterday's early finish and how that relates to today's play.  In order to make sure that both starting flights have an even playing field (in lines of structure), today's play will end at the conclusion of Level 11.

Event 14 (Day 1B): Second Flight Begins Shortly

Today is the final opportunity for players to bag chips and continue on to Day 2 of Event 14 ($1,100 No Limit Hold'em - $75,000 Guarantee).  The field yesterday was an intimate one, with play being paused with (10) players left (from 35 total entries).  Drake Bronk, recent winner of the MSPT Mid-Season Championship bagged the chip lead with 222,200, while James Bucci sealed up 168,500.  

The field looks to be sizably bigger today, with the buzz that has been seen on Twitter.  Many of the notable Maryland players are now back from the WSOP, and it will be interesting to see who shows up for Day 1B action.  The cards will be in the air at 12:15pm, and live coverage of the event will pick up at exactly that time.

Kyle Bowker (Walton, NY)

Kyle Bowker (Walton, NY) returned from Las Vegas only days ago, but has just taken his seat for his second event of the Live! Summer Series Of Poker.  Although he didn't see much success in Event 10 (Pot Limit Omaha), he was coming off another sizable score out west.

Bowker initial breakout score came in the 2006 WSOP Main Event, where he finished 37th for $247,399.  Kyle has since amassed over $2,300,000 in tournament earnings, including another deep run in this year's WSOP Main Event.  Bowker finished 71st this time around, for a return of $103,025.

Kyle has some history at Table 29, as he is seated directly across from Justin Liberto, who he beat heads up in the WSOPC $1,675 Main Event at Harrah's Chester.

Event 14 (Day 1A): Break Time

Players are heading on their second (15) minute break of the day, and when they return to Level 7 the blinds will have increased to 200/400/50.  The field has seen the first couple eliminations of the day as Alex Rumbaugh and Tony Hulbert were both seen leaving the tournament area.  Neither player has re-entered, and it's yet to be determined whether or not they will be returning tomorrow for Day 1B play.

Live! Poker tournament regular Tim Little called over the media to ask if the name James Bucci sounded familiar.  Although James wasn't recognized immediately, it took only a few clicks on the computer to find out that Bucci was cashing in tournaments while many of the players in the field were on the bus to school.

Bucci (Hollywood, MD) has over $632,000 in career tournament earnings, with his first cash coming during the 1990 WSOP.  Over his career, James has amassed 67 recorded cashes, with his largest coming just this summer at the 2014 WSOP.  Bucci finished third in the $1,500 Limit Omaha Hi/Lo, taking home $109,000.

Bucci is off to a solid start today, sitting with 32,000 in front of him.

Event 14 (Day 1A): Representing For The Ladies

Jane Hitchcock (Washington D.C.) was the only woman in the field to start the day, and that hasn't changed with just under two hours remaining in registration.  Jane has been a tournament fixture in the room during the series, but is still looking for her first cash here at the Live! Poker Room.  Her day did not get off to a good start, as she busted from Table 29 and has now found herself at Table 30 with the likes of Alex Rumbaugh, Duane Mitchell, James Bucci, and Daniel Sussman.

Jane has six career cashes to her name (all from 2013), with her largest score coming at the Aria in a $340 NLH Deep Stack (4th Place - $4,108).  This series has been her first since returning from Las Vegas and the WSOP, where she saw great success in cash games over the trip.

The rules announcement has been made by tournament supervisor Jason Heidenthal, and the cards are now in the air.  Players have sat down to a starting stack of 20,000, with (40) minute levels throughout both of the Day 1's.  Day 2 (on Sunday) will see the length of the levels transition, as players finish off the tournament with (60) minute levels.  Late entries and re-entries are allowed for the first (6) levels, with all players sitting down to a full starting stack.

Event 14 (Day 1A): Live Coverage Returns

In just over (30) minutes, Event 14 of the Live! Summer Series Of Poker will begin ($1,100 No Limit Hold'em - $75,000 Guarantee).  The live coverage that many of the players have been asking about picks back up for this event, and continues for the rest of the series.  What feels like the "co-main event," Event 14 boasts the second largest buy-in of the series at $1,100.  Just as in Event 1, the winner of this tournament will not only take home the top prize money and trophy, but they will also earn themselves a seat into next week's $2,200 LSSOP Main Event.  Cards will be in the air at 12:15pm this afternoon, and live updates will kick off at that moment.
